May 4, 2024. The closing ceremony of the National Pilgrimage of Atonement in honour of Cardinal Primate József Mindszenty was held in the Basilica of Esztergom. Cardinal Péter Erdő, Primate of Esztergom, celebrated the solemn Holy Mass in the basilica where József Mindszenty is interred. It was concelebrated by the members of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (HCPC) and fellow Bishops present; the homily was delivered by Auxiliary Bishop of Esztergom and Budapest, Levente Balázs Martos, who is also the Head Chaplain of the Order of Malta in Hungary.
