On the invitation of the Hungarian Association, the Grand Commander of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, H.E. Ven. Bailli Fra’ Emmanuel Rousseau paid a working visit to Hungary from 7-9 September.

As special highlight of his visit, the Grand Commander accepted the promise of obedience of a confrater of the Hungarian Association, during a Holy Mass celebrated in the Chapel of the Association on the feast of Our Lady of Philermos. After the Holy Mass, the members of the Association had the opportunity for personal talks with His Excellency, during which he spoke at length about the vocation of a Professed Knight of the Order.

During his program, the Grand Commander  visited several institutions operated by the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta as well as the Embassy of the Order in Budapest. He paid a visit to the Holy Crown of Hungary in the House of Parliament, and he also visited the Szechényi National Library.

During his program, the Grand Commander was accompanied by the President of the Hungarian Association Kristóf Szabadhegÿ, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Hungary Dr. Heinz Anton Hafner, and the President of the Hungarian Charity Service, Peter Szabadhegÿ.
