Rhodes and of Malta
The TEDeum youth group of the Hungarian Association of the Order of Malta organized the sixth annual Malta Youth Ball at the Apor Vilmos Community Center, with our disabled guests, their carers and our fellow members.
H.E. Dr. Heinz Anton Hafner and Dr. Monika Hafner took part in the pilgrimage organised by the Hungarian Association of the Order of Malta to the island of Rhodes, as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of hte Association.
Budapest, September 9. His Excellency Dr. Heinz Anton Hafner hosted the annual reception of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Hungary. His Eminence Cardinal Peter Erdő, Primate of Hungary, Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia, Dr. Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister, and H.E. the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Michael W. Banach,were present, with numerous representatives of the Hungarian Government, the diplomatic corps, Church authorities and the Order of Malta.
Pécs (Hungary), 28 August. Dr. Josef D. Blotz, Grand Hospitaller, and Dr. Franz Salm-Reifferscheidt, Ambassador for Roma Affairs for the Order, visited the Order's programs promoting social inclusion in the Southern Transdanubia region of Hungary. The presentation included a tour of the local activities of the Presence program and a short concert by the beneficiaries' Symphony Orchestra, one of its activities.
H.E. Dr. Heinz Anton Hafner attended the opening of MMSZ's Summer Camp for Disabled Youth on August 25 in Balatonfenyves.
22 June 2025: annual celebration of the Feast of Saint John the Baptist by the Hungarian Association of the Order, with the induction of new members.
The delegates' assembly elected Péter Szabadhegÿ as president for the next four-year term, Miklós Vecsei as vice-president, and Bishop Dr. Levente Balázs Martos as national spiritual leader.
H.E. Amb. Dr. Heinz Hafner held a talk about the Sovereign Order of Malta to students of the Matthias Corvinus College in Békéscsaba.
In 1925, the Grand Master of the Order, Fra' Galeazzo von Thun und Hohenstein, appointed Count Jenő Karátsonyi, who at the time belonged to the Order's Austrian Grand Priorate, as first Ambassador Extraordinary to Hungary. It was Jenő Karátsonyi who paved the way for the Order of Malta to authorise the creation of a Hungarian national association in 1928. The Hungarian Order of Malta celebrated the centenary at the invitation of H.E. Ambassador Dr. Heinz Anton Hafner, on 10th April at the Church of the Holy Name of the Virgin Mary in Solymár, where Count Jenő Karátsonyi is buried. Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Michael W. Banach, Apostolic Nuncio.
